Dr. Hanna Suh, Ph.D.
As a licensed psychologist with expertise in trauma, stress, acculturation, identity concerns, and relationship issues, I see psychological symptoms as contextual and work to address underlying life issues while reducing present symptoms. I work with adults and adolescents in individual, couples, and group therapy. I value client relationships and find meaning and fulfillment in helping clients to discover their strengths and grow.
My goal in psychotherapy is to help you get “unstuck.” To do so, I first prioritize creating a warm and accepting environment wherein you can trust me and feel safe. Then, building upon this sound therapeutic relationship, we work on adapting different perspectives and changing long-standing maladaptive habits that will enable you to grow. I often adapt here-and-now techniques to bring forth deeper insights and emotional catharsis that will build hope and strength within you.
I utilize interpersonal psychotherapy and brief periods of psychodynamic therapy to conceptualize your situation/issues and then use acceptance and commitment therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques in the intervention process. My favorite quote that reflects my approach to counseling is "You either walk inside your story and own it or you stand outside your story and hustle for your worthiness" (Brene Brown).
